Frenectomies

The frenum is a fold of tissue that prevents a mobile part of the body from movie too far. The lingual frenum is the small piece of tissue that connects the tongue to the bottom of the mouth. In some cases, the tongue is connected too closely making speaking clearly, chewing, and swallowing difficult. A frenectomy is the removal of a small amount of tissue in order to allow the tongue to move more freely and comfortably.

Dental Implant Placement

Dental implants are titanium posts used to replace the root structure of missing teeth. The number of implant posts required depends on the extent of tooth loss, but the placement process is the same regardless of the number and position of implant posts. A small incision is made in the gums, and the implant is inserted into the jawbone. Dental implant supported tooth replacement offers the most natural look and feel because it is the only tooth replacement solution that restores the entire tooth – roots and all. Not every patient is a candidate for dental implants, but innovative materials and techniques allow more patients every year to successfully receive this tooth replacement procedure.

Soft Tissue Grafts

A tissue graft is used to increase the amount of soft tissue in any area of the smile. A soft tissue graft is a procedure used to treat a number of concerns including:

  • Replacing gum tissue lost due to periodontal disease
  • Increasing the amount of gum tissue in preparation for dental implant supported tooth replacement procedures
  • To create a more even gum line to improve the appearance of smiles
  • To reduce dental sensitivity by covering exposed tooth roots.

Wisdom Tooth Extractions

In most cases, our team is dedicated to helping patients preserve their natural dental structures, but there are some situations in which extracting one or more teeth is the best way to preserve oral health. The most commonly extracted teeth are the third molars, commonly referred to as wisdom teeth. These are the last teeth to erupt in patients’ smiles, and may lead to crowding, impaction, and other oral health issues. If our team determines your wisdom teeth may cause oral health concerns, we’re happy to offer comfortable, effective wisdom tooth extraction in our state-of-the-art dental practice.
