The Wand

Patient comfort is one of our primary concerns, so we are proud to have integrated The Wand into our practice. Injections can be irritating for many reasons, but one pain factor is that the anesthesia is concentrated in a small area until it dissipates. Anesthesia administered too fast can cause pain. Another irritation stems from too much tissue going numb, which can leave a patient drooling after an appointment.

Digital Impressions

If you need a lab-made restoration or prosthetic, expect a new, comfortable impression experience. The iTero handheld wand takes a digital, 3D image of your prepared teeth in about three to five minutes. You do not have to endure a tray full of putty hardening in your mouth, and the digital image is sent to our lab where a computer creates an accurate replica of your mouth.

Soft Tissue Lasers

Soft tissue lasers are now used to perform numerous dental procedures. With laser technology, Dr. Young is able to concentrate on a specific area that needs treatment without risking damage to surrounding tissue. At Dr. Young’s Jacksonville office, we use the DenMat® soft tissue diode laser for accuracy and shorter healing times.

Composite Fillings

If you have decay or dark fillings, you may be a good candidate for tooth-colored, composite resin fillings. They can restore teeth to an attractive, healthy state, while offering several advantages over traditional amalgam fillings. Because composite resins are not made of metal, we can blend and mix shades to find the perfect color to match your natural teeth. Another pro is the strength of the bond between your tooth and the composite material. This actually supports the remaining tooth structure, deters breakage and insulates against temperature changes. Best of all, composite resins allow us to keep more of your natural tooth structure intact.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are used to repair teeth with severe dental damage or decay too extensive for correction with a filling. Patients in need of a dental crown should expect at least two appointments. During the initial visit, damaged tooth is removed in preparation to receive the crown, and an impression of your tooth is taken. Before you leave, a temporary crown is placed to protect the prepared tooth until the custom restoration is completed. During the second appointment, the temporary crown is replaced with the permanent, custom restoration.
