One of the most important things we do for our patients is identify and fill cavities. Since any spot of decay can threaten the integrity of an entire tooth, detection is key to preventing a host of potential problems. Lengthy poking and probing sessions have been an acceptable, if not very comfortable, part of dental exams for years. However, such methods are only 50 to 75 percent successful. Cavities can hide in many places. To make the process more comfortable and comprehensive, we use DIAGNOdent, a revolutionary dental laser that can detect cavities in the earliest stages.

This compact, portable device is another way Dr. Young utilizes patented technology and advanced training to improve his ability to detect cavities and cracks in your teeth – even in very hard to see areas. By utilizing safe, near-infrared light, CariVu’s transillumination technology makes healthy enamel appear translucent while unhealthy cavities trap and absorb the light. Accordingly, Dr. Young is able to “see through” your tooth and identify potential issues clearly, quickly and accurately.

Digital X-Rays

Our team is committed to providing patients with the latest in dental technology, and digital X-rays play a big role in keeping that promise. Unlike traditional X-ray systems, digital X-rays can be captured easily with a small sensor that’s placed in the mouth and instantly transferred to a nearby computer for easy viewing. We can even color-code or magnify the image for educational purposes, if needed. This technique is simpler, faster, and better for the environment. Better yet, patients are exposed to up to 90% less radiation than traditional X-rays produce.

Digital Photos

As the old saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. Nowhere is that more true than in dentistry. Utilizing the latest imaging technology, Dr. Young is able to show his patients how their smile will look – even before treatment begins. He is able to use digital photography to allow you to see first-hand how a new smile can change your life. In addition, Dr. Young utilizes photography to improve communication with his dental laboratory, and he loves to document and share his successful cases with patients. Our entire team looks forward to helping you realize the smile of your dreams is within reach.
