Invisalign For Crowded Teeth – Jacksonville, FL
The Easy, Invisible Solution For Crowded Teeth
If you have crowded teeth, you may feel like the first thing people notice about you is your smile. In fact, it's not uncommon for people with crowded teeth to cover their mouth when they smile or laugh, which is no way to go through life. Fortunately, Invisalign is an excellent option for most cases of crowding. Instead of wearing metal brackets and wires, Dr. Young will give you great results from wearing clear aligners that are virtually undetectable by other people. You'll not only have a beautiful smile after treatment, but you'll avoid the oral health problems that result from crowding as well. If you'd like to know how Invisalign can correct your crowded teeth, give us a call to schedule a consultation!
Potential Problems Caused By Crowded Teeth
It's understandable to be concerned about the aesthetics of crowded teeth, but it has serious consequences for the health of your mouth as well. Many of these issues stem from the difficulty that comes with brushing and flossing. Even with effort, it's hard to access the tight spaces around the teeth that accumulate plaque and bacteria. This leads to:
How Invisalign Helps With Crowded Teeth
Any type of orthodontic treatment works on the same fundamental principle: It moves each tooth, little by little, until all of the teeth are in their ideal positions. With Invisalign, that movement is created with a series of custom-made clear aligners instead of brackets and wires.
Typically, each set of aligners are worn for 2 weeks at a time, at which point you move to a new set. Gradually, your crowded teeth will move into proper alignment, giving you a straight, even smile. If you have extremely crowded teeth, Dr. Young may recommend removing 2-4 teeth or temporarily wearing a special orthodontic appliance prior to beginning Invisalign. Most people are done with their treatment in 9-18 months, although that can vary depending on your needs and how severe your crowding is.
How To Get Started
Getting started with Invisalign is easy. First, you'll schedule a consultation with Dr. Young so he can make sure it's the best option for you. From there, you can get started in just a couple of visits, spread a few weeks apart. After taking digital impressions, photos, and other images, we'll send that information off to the Invisalign lab, which typically takes about 3 weeks to make your aligners and send them back to us.
Then you'll return to pick up your first set of trays and get detailed instructions for how to wear and maintain them. To ensure your treatment is going as planned, you'll return every 4-8 weeks for progress visits and to pick up new trays. And that's it! After just a few appointments, you'll be well on your way to having a smile that's healthier and more beautiful than ever.
