Soft Tissue Lasers
Some of the procedures utilizing the DenMat® laser include:
- Crown lengthening to expose more healthy tooth structure, whether to create a more appealing smile or to reshape your tooth in order to build a better foundation for a tooth restoration
- Reshaping gum tissue to reduce the amount of gum that shows in a gummy smile and seemingly decreases the length of your teeth
- A laser frenectomy for when a child or infant is “tongue-tied.” This occurs when the thin tissue that connects the tongue to the floor of the mouth extends too close to the tip of the tongue, thereby interfering with speaking and eating.
Dr. Young may also use a soft tissue laser to treat cold sores and to remove benign tumors from the mouth’s soft tissues. And while the benefits of soft tissue lasers are numerous, perhaps the most significant are reduced healing time; treatment without the need for anesthesia or stitches; and minimized bleeding, bacterial infections, and damage to surrounding tissue.
